From a Homeschooling MotherOur daughter has dyslexia. She's 10 years old. We've been using the "Language Tune-Up Kit". It's worked absolute wonders for her. She has improved so much! Her reading, spelling and writing is on a whole new level....increased by 2-3 grade levels. I felt lost when I first started to research solutions that were both affordable and offered her some real help with her reading/writing/spelling challenges. We've been using it for about 5 months or so. It takes her about 45 min to 1 hr per day to complete a lesson. I started out sitting beside her for each lesson to offer help and encouragement. But now she does them independently. It is monotonous, I'll admit. But, it really, really works. Some days she needs more encouragement than others. We homeschool and this program is the first lesson of every day for her....it really seems to get her brain stimulated and ready to learn. I highly recommend this program!! It has truly been a blessing for our daughter. (: Thank you Language Tune-Up Kit!! Sincerely, Grateful Fischers
From a Mother in New York City"Thank you so much Orton-Gillingham method and especially thank you Language Tune-Up Kit! Our son has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (PDD-NOS) and was reading at grade level at the end of Kindergarten. In March of the 1st grade, he was reading at the same level. We did everything we could think of to do at home with no improvement. The school had changed him to the Edmark sight words program thinking that memorizing the words would be more effective for him than sounding them out.Thank goodness I went to a conference put on by Pete Wright, the founder of Wrightslaw. Pete has dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia and told us how hard it was for him to learn when he was growing up. His parents paid for daily tutoring by an Orton-Gillingham method specialist. He now argues legal cases in front of the Supreme Court. After listening to his story, I googled Orton-Gillingham method and tried to read everything I could about it. Since I'm not a young child educator, I searched for Orton-Gillingham AND computer program and found the Language Tune-Up Kit. I looked at it for several days. We have purchased so many programs, books and guides to try to help us teach him at home. After careful consideration, we purchased the At-Home Kit that takes you through the 8th grade. It takes us 3 or 4 days of 30-60 minute sessions to get through a level. Although it has taken us 25 hours, we just now completed level 13 and can move on to blends. Our son has moved up 2 reading levels in 2 months. It is slow, but very systematic with lots of repetition. The repetition doesn't end at the end of a section, it continues and builds in each successive section.I am glad we found this program while we are still in the 1st grade. The hare might be the faster reader, but slow and steady wins the race!Thank you so much. I can't express our heartfelt gratitude for this great product! This is a must have for any special needs family that needs help with reading and was worth every penny!"
The Reno Family"My 7-year-old son Gage has struggled with the alphabet and words since pre-kindergarten. I always thought he had a problem early on and asked all his teachers if they thought he could be dyslexic, I was assured year after year that his letter reversal was normal. By the middle of 1st grade I knew I needed to get him tested. We got him a tutor, he got extra reading help 5 days a week at school and we used Hooked on Phonics at home. He improved but only slightly and still had trouble with the alphabet and leaving out letters when spelling. He was in the lowest reading group in his class and ultimately held back in 1st grade because he did not pass the reading portion of his test. This past summer after we got a definite diagnosis of dyslexia we got the Language Tune-Up Kit At Home program. He is only on lesson 10 and has been in 1st grade again for just over a month. This program does wonders because he is in the highest reading group already and his teacher is giving him harder books to read and harder spelling tests. She said he needed to be more challenged because he was breezing through his spelling and reading. This was not because of being held back again but solely because of this program. Thank you so much, my son's self esteem is now soaring and he loves to read for us and others!"
Mrs. D.M.T."I am thankful I have found such an item as yours to assist my 10-year old dyslexic son. My goal is for him to read for information and for pleasure. Your testimonials and money back guarantee are only two of the reasons I have decided on this program. Basing it on Orton-Gillingham research, and creating a multi-sensory program is another. Thanks again for developing such a program. I hope we have success!"
Thanks 🙂 Anne in VA"I had called in about my daughter's problems with the LTK program. She had started out on lesson 31 and was doing terribly. It turns out that my daughter, who has a complex language disorder (mixed expressive-receptive language delay), had actually MEMORIZED many words and had tested higher than she could actually decode. I moved her back to lesson 21 and now she is on lesson 38 and reading and decoding BEAUTIFULLY. She can read solid second grade books with ease. Once she gets used to reading chapter books, we will be bumping her up to third grade chapter books. She is in third grade and has gone from about a 1.2 decoding ability to almost third grade level in about a month. This program has been phenomenal in teaching her how to sound out words and blend sounds. She is reading words she doesn't even know, which is remarkable. I will keep you posted on her progress, but I wanted to thank you for your amazing program. It is taking her about an hour, on average, to work through each lesson. But the time spent is well spent in my opinion, because she will no longer be behind other kids her age in reading because of her language delay."
From the mother of a 13-year-old boy"I am amazed that my son is now able to read. He struggled for a long time and has recently been diagnosed as having dyslexia. He is currently on lesson 12 and is already reading books! At first I was skeptical that a software program could help him, but it did! He spends about 30 minutes per day on the Language Tune-Up Kit At Home program, and he likes it!"
From a Chicago Mother"Thank you for developing such a great product–it is really helping my 7-year-old son and we plan to see the course through to completion by this summer, if possible–if not, by the end of the summer. It sounds crazy, but this product has not only helped my son, but it has helped me tremendously–I feel like I can relax just a little bit knowing that faithful use of your product will give him the grounding in phonics he has been struggling to gain."
From a 77-year-old man"I love this program! I am originally from Italy and I have never learned to read–until I purchased your program. I have completed all 87 lessons and now I am going to get my high school diploma! My wife would ask me why I spend all this time on the computer. I told her it's because I want to learn to read. And now I have! The woman's voice on the software is great and I really enjoy working with her on the LTK program. Bless her and bless you JWor for making such a wonderful program. It's so wonderful and I can't tell you enough about how much I appreciate the experience I've had with it!! I want my grandson to use it because he is also having problems and I know he will benefit just as I have."
Thanks, from New Jersey"We ordered the LTK At Home for our seven-year-old son who is having difficulty in reading. We have had a tutor for him for over one year. After ordering your program, we cancelled the tutor and just worked on the LTK. He is responding very well to the lessons. In just seven lessons, he has shown more interest in reading and sounding out multi-syllable words that he would normally have just ignored. "We know we still have a ways to go. He has yet to pick up a book and read it from start to finish. But, we know he is well on his way to enjoying reading and it has only been 2 weeks. "I learned about the Orton Gillingham Approach from a friend who teaches in Jersey City. She said they use the approach because it works well with reading disabled students. I then went on line and found your web page. We figured we would give it a try. We have ordered other programs, but our son was not interested in working on them. I have to say, yours is the first program we have bought that is working. I am a certified Teacher of Reading with a Masters in Education. I would sincerely advocate your program for anyone needing to see improvement in their child's reading ability. I wish it hadn't taken us a year to find it. "I hope others find out about your program".
From a full-time tutor working with children and adults"Our LTK programs are bailing students out of difficult situations every day. We've had about 5 or 6 of our elementary school students receive "Most Improved Student" awards in the last year. That translates to about 20% of our enrollees. Two of those are now on the honor roll with A's and B's in courses they previously had difficulty getting passing test scores on...and they were also up for ADD evaluation."
From the parent of an 11-year-old boy"I bought the at home version of LTK and I wanted to let you know that I am thoroughly impressed with the software. I want to express my appreciation to you for the tremendous attention to detail and the extraordinary amount of work it must have taken to produce this program."I am a mom of an 11 y/o dyslexic in private Christian school. The school is plowing new ground with my child. They are weak in remediation. And so, I do the remediation for my child. I was using the Scottish Rite's program which at its very best was extremely boring. Your program makes it possible for my child to shoulder some of the responsibility for his education."I felt as though I was taking a little risk, ordering your product sight unseen. As you are aware, there are so many gimmicks out there just waiting to prey on people who are forced to figure it out as they go. Your product is top quality. I will tell anyone who needs this kind of help where to get it. Thank you again. You've provided a tremendous service."
From a parent"Last year I ordered your product for my son to supplement his school's reading program for at-home use. I was very impressed with your product and believe it assisted my efforts to ensure my son would be one of the top readers of his class."
From the parent of a 3rd grade girl"We purchased your software for our daughter who is currently in grade 3. Our daughter entered grade 3 reading at a grade 1.3 level. She had a thorough assessment that revealed a severe disability with respect to sound/symbol relationships and with respect to sound blends. Outside of this she is a very bright little girl. "I write to thank you for the software. For our daughter your software is perfectly targeted to assist her. I confess that our daughter does not show much enthusiasm for using the software. This stems in large part from the fact that confronting ones limitations head-on is seldom fun. "Our daughter is currently in lesson 32. In the past three months she has made the enormous leap from arduous reading with little to no comprehension (when decoding is so taxing there is little room for comprehension) to being able to pick up a book and read for pleasure. Our daughter has always loved books and we read to her regularly. She is not currently reading advanced books, however, she is able to currently read books that are appealing to children of her age. In recent testing her reading level has already risen to the mid-grade 3 level. Close inspection of her results show that she has greatly improved her "word attack" skills. "Reading is still a chore for her, however, it is now a viable part of her life. We are grateful to you for your efforts to assist the reading disabled and we look forward to the continued benefits that she will receive from completion of the remaining lessons. We have recommended your software to another family with a reading disabled daughter. They have bought the software and are also very pleased. We have also forwarded your written material to a psychologist that will refer her clients to your web site."
From the parent of a 9-year-old boy"My son has had reading problems since he started school. We tried those programs that have lots of game activities but they didn't help. After using the Language Tune-Up Kit At Home he now looks forward to reading and feels a lot better about himself. I no longer hear from the school system about his "acting up" in class. Bless you for making such a wonderful program!"
From a parent/tutor"I love the Language Tune-Up Kit At Home program! I have been using it with my 10-year-old daughter. She has completed the first 10 lessons and I'm very impressed. She has already made great progress in her reading skills after only a few hours. Now I'm using it with my clients in my professional capacity."
From the Director of a Learning Center"A 44-year-old female with hearing difficulties and resultant speech impediments demonstrated definite improvements in pronunciation in addition to marked improvements in reading capability after using LTK for approximately six weeks (50 hours). Additionally, she also demonstrated a very noticeable improvement in self-esteem issues. "A 16-year-old male dropout entered at a 5th grade reading level and worked diligently trying to raise his reading level to 8th grade so he could enter Alternative School. He accomplished this (TABE 8.0 Vocabulary and Comprehension) after 80 hours on LTK without teacher intervention. "A 49-year-old male who entered the program at a measured 2.9 grade level in vocabulary improved to grade 7.1 in Vocabulary and grade 10.9 in Comprehension after 100 hours of LTK tutoring. "We use the Language Tune-Up Kit most frequently for those students who don't appear to have retained the phonics skills learned in the early grade levels that are so important to decoding. Usually LTK will renew those skills and/or teach those skills to a degree that the progress the student experiences is quick enough to override the low self-esteem and confidence issues. This is exceptionally important in the retention of the low-level reader. It requires that the student receive immediate positive feedback from the curriculum. "Without exception, EVERY student assigned to use LTK has indicated positive response following their first study period with it."
